Why do two factories quote different prices?
Because they may be quoting different assumptions: hot or cold runner, P20 or S136 steel, one cavity or multiple cavities, different cycle times, different trial policies and different inspection levels. Ask suppliers to state assumptions in writing before comparing.
What drives mold cost?
- Part geometry: undercuts, deep ribs, thin walls, complex parting lines and tight tolerances.

The best cost reduction usually comes from DFM: remove unnecessary undercuts, simplify parting lines, balance wall thickness, add draft and define only truly critical tolerances.
